【閉じない線を引く】
「食と健康を考える」という理念のもと有機野菜販売を行う企業の本社屋計画である。 社屋を日常から地域に開くことと社屋としてのセキュリティを確保することの二つの相反する課題をどう建築的に解決していくかが一貫したテーマであった。多くの検討を経て、私たちは「閉じない線」を引くことに可能性を感じた。敷地境界線に沿った壁が段々と高さを変えながら敷地内側に入り込み、線を閉じることなくあるところで突然止まる。そのような壁を三本巡らせそれぞれの壁が交わり面となった範囲に屋根をかけて内部化することで、敷地と建築が滑らかに連続し緩やかに建築が立ち現れるのではないかと考えた。同時に三本の壁は内外問わず螺旋状に領域を絡め取っていくため、畑・水田・果樹・井戸・ラウンジ・執務室・食堂などがそれぞれに独立しながらも多層的に重なり合う風景を生み出す。社屋を開きながら閉じるグラデーショナルな関係性をつくり出すことができるように思われた。 三本の壁はいずれもヒノキCLTとし、CLTでしかできない二層吹抜けの圧倒的な木質感や加工性を活かした開口のディテール、接合部など多くの意欲的な取り組みも行い、CLTの可能性を広げることへ尽力した建築となった。 三本の閉じない線によって敷地境界線に沿いながらいつのまにか立ち上がった建築の輪郭はあいまいで、地域に対し排他的な存在感を持たず敷地内で行われる活動がしみ出してくる。重なり合う壁と壁の間に農作業や樹木の手入れ、通勤通学や業務といった人々の営みが多層的に互いに見え隠れする風景によって、企業と周辺住民との関係がかたちづくられていくことを願っている。

【Drawing Unclosed Lines】
This is a headquarters plan for a company that sells organic vegetables under the philosophy of "Thinking about Food and Health". A consistent theme was how to architecturally resolve the conflicting challenges of opening the office to the community daily while ensuring the necessary security for a workplace. After much deliberation, we found potential in drawing "unclosed lines". Walls along the site boundaries vary in height as they draw inward, stopping abruptly without closing the line. By arranging three such walls and placing a roof over the areas where they intersect to internalize the space, we believed the site and architecture would connect smoothly, allowing the building to emerge gently. Simultaneously, as the three walls weave through the area in a spiral fashion—regardless of whether they are inside or outside—they create a landscape where fields, paddies, orchards, wells, lounges, offices, and a cafeteria overlap multi-layered while remaining independent. This creates a "gradational" relationship that is both open and closed. All three walls are made of Cypress (Hinoki) CLT. We strove to expand the possibilities of CLT through various ambitious efforts, such as the overwhelming wooden texture of the two-story atrium—a feature unique to CLT—and the detailing of openings and joints that utilize its machinability. The outline of the building, which rises naturally along the site boundaries through these three unclosed lines, remains ambiguous. It avoids an exclusionary presence toward the community, allowing the activities within the site to seep out. Between the overlapping walls, a landscape is formed where agricultural work, tree maintenance, and the daily activities of people—such as commuting and business—are multi-layered and intermittently visible. We hope this environment will help shape a positive relationship between the company and the local residents.
